The Jedi Metal Shop

The New Orleans Jedi Metal Shop is where the magic happens. It's where our Lightsabers and Contraptions begin their life. My name is Jedi Ice, I have a metal a shop in downtown New Orleans and to make things more productive, I've even extended it to my home. In my welding shop, I specialize in working with aluminum. 

This metal is one of the most difficult metals to weld due to two reasons. First, it has extremely good heat transfer abilities. So as you weld it, your work peice heats up and melts away right before your eyes. It's enough to make you want to scream in frustration. Secondly, welding means, melting the base metal and generally adding a filler metal to join the sides of your work peice together. During the welding process, you create a puddle of molten metal. It's that puddle that you interact with, moving and adding more filler metal to it to create a bead. The problem is that aluminum is shiny and reflects light right back into your eyes, making it really tough to see the puddle.

There also the smoke that is created in this process when the magnesium in the metal is melted, requiring a really good ventilation system. Welding steel generally doesn't have these problems and most people learn to weld steel, so they become discuraged quickly working with aluminum. 

As a Jedi, I enjoy the difficulty level and welcome these challenges. I offer my skills to you, my Jedi brothers and sisters. I accept that most people don't want to go through all that for their Jedi tools, so I have decided to create the hardest parts for the members of our group. Then assembling your project will be much easier and fun for you. It's up to you to deside which road to take on your journey to become a Jedi Master.
